PC Boot problem?

Postby Daz 04 » Mon Jan 19, 2004 12:09 pm

Hello All,

I have a problem with my PC..

History, I was sat there using my PC got up for a few mins then I heard my monitor goto standby mode. I thought that the power had gone off. But when I looked at the PC the powerlight was still on green. I tried to reboot my machine but nothing happened, it wouldnt even begin to boot up and the monitor stayed off. Although the power was on.

On the odd ocassion it has booted and began to load XP, although when XP is loading it goes onto scandisk and then freezes during running this. The Hard Disk light then stays on.

At first I thought it was my HD, but having spoke with a few people they have told me that if it was just the HD it would at least start the boot, then throw a load of errors trying to read it?

Can anybody help please?

Thank you
Darren

Do you have ANY signs of power when you press the power switch? If you don't then it tends to suggest either your switch or your power supply has gone wrong :(

The first thing I'd try is removing the CMO's battery and wait 15 min. and replace and try booting. You could also just unplug the computer for 12-18 hrs. and try again.
