New hard drive partitions.

Hey, well as i said in a past post, i have made 3 partitions on my new hard drive.

I just want to know if what i am planning is going to work ok.

Firstly i noticed in my bios no 3rd hard drive showed up. I have it plugged into sata port 0, and in the bios there is no 0, only starts with one, hence only showing two drives. But the hard drive works fine. Is this going to be a problem? if so, i can change the sata port i guess.

Secondly, my plan was to install Linux on one partition and vista on the other, but when i choose which drive to boot from will it show the two different partitions as different drives, or will it just simply not work. Will i need to do a dual boot or something? I don’t really know anything.

The only other way i can think of doing this, is installing maybe Linux on my second hard drive, and vista on my new one. So i could boot like this

Hard drive 1 - xp
hard drive 2 - vista
hard drive 3 - Linux.

Any ideas would be good.

Thanks.

You can install on any drive you want to, my biggest advise there is install linux last. Linux will have a boot loader (probably grub) that will allow you to choose which OS to load on startup. It will ask you everytime you reboot or power up.

Which version of linux are you considering and why are you looking at vista at all?
