Transferring data from old HD to new HD.......help

what is the best way to transfer the data from my old hard drive to my new hard drive, in the same comp.? I just want to take the data off the original HD and transfer it to the new hard drive. thx

Set your old drive up as a slave to your new drive. Copy the files over from windows explorer.

ill try that, is it still going to boot even though the windows program is on the old hard drive and the new one is blank?

well, i copied the files but now when i try to boot it up by itself bios cant find the windows configuration file...missing or corrupted, is there something i need to do or that i missed?

Sorry it wasnt clear. You're going to need to install your new harddrive with whatever OS you want. After your installation, hook your old harddrive as a slave. Boot into windows and check "my computer". Should have a drive letter there D: or E: for your old harddrive - copy over the old files to the new.

You'll need to install an OS to the new before you can boot up of course. If you need to keep the install from the old drive - You're going to need a product like 'Norton Ghost'. You then clone your old drive and install that clone to your new drive.

do you know where i can find this norton ghost, thats what i need but i cant find it anywhere , unless you pay?
