Wireless network card not working since Windows re-install?

I had to re-install windows xp on a reasonably old laptop. The spec is

Intel Pentium M 735 processor
1GB RAM

I used the installation disc to format and reinstall windows and also the supplied driver disc to reinstall all the drivers - ATI graphics, Audio, modem driver etc etc

However, since the re-install I cannot connect wirelessly. I have ensured that the Wireless light is on (Fcn+F1). The wireless card does not show under Network connections. I only have 1394 connection and LAN connection. I can access the internet by using a CAT5 cable into my wired/wireless router.

I was under the impression that the wireless facility was encompassed in with the Pentium M chip???

I have visited the intel site to try to obtain a driver http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/detect.htm yet it tells me that I have a non-intel component?

I have taken a screenshot of device manager:

I think my problem might be the "Network controller" shown above with the question mark. I have run the driver search option for this item but Windows found nothing in the Windows folder. Neither did it find a driver on the supplied Windows installer disc or the supplied laptop driver disc

the intel processor doesnt mean the board controllers are also intel. Whats the brand and model of the notebook? Example, Dell inspiron 1100, toshiba satellite blah blah blah, HP and so on. If you get that info im sure we can help you get the right driver or at least confirm whats going on.
