Mouse problem / IRQ conflicts/sharing query

Im having some hassles with my optical mouse lately where it will freeze for a sec or two then unfreeze for maybe a minute or so then do it again etc. The light goes off and it looks like the mouse isn't getting any power. I was wondering if it could have to do with the IRQ conflict/sharing shown below as I use the USB port:



Is there any way to change the IRQ address of your hardware as I notice that some numbers (addresses?) are not being used (2 & 7 for eg) or does it not matter?



Ive uninstalled all mouse drivers etc and re-installed them with the latest but it still happens. Came out of the blue as well. It happens A LOT when I'm playing my fav game (TFC) but also happens a little bit with IE. When no programs are open and it's just my desktop it doesn't freeze at all. I also tested the mouse on my other PC and it seemed to be fine.

I had similar problems when I ran my mouse USB. I happened to have a USB to PS2 adapter, so now I just use the ps2 port and never have any problems.

Irq resources are usually set up in the bios. If you refer to your mobo manual, it should tell you stuff like

PCI slot 1 is free
PCI slot 2+6 share an IRQ
Slot 3 shares with USB
Slot 4 shares with onboard ethernet
Slot 5+7 shared

***That was all made up, and will not be what your board does!!!! Look in your own manual!

You can either move the cards, or change the default settings of which slots share
