Need Acronis True Image 7.0 help

Postby tmmock » Fri Jun 11, 2004 12:39 am

Hi! I'm new here.. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this. I purchased the Acronis TI 7.0 about a month ago and haven't been able to create an image yet. I keep getting an error message saying my c drive is in use or has bad sectors. I have shut down all apps. but still get the same message. I have done more than one complete scan disk, it shows no errors. I'm using Win ME. I have been in contact with Acronis support, sent them the logs, a snapAPI file, downloaded the newest update, reinstalled the software but still it doesn't work.

I'm trying to create the image on a cd-rw disk, is this not the thing to do? I've read most the posts on here about this program and it seems that most are putting it on a separate hard drive (which I don't have) or a different partition (which I haven't set up and am not really sure how to do). I'm not a complete novice, so it's possible to tackle that.

Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. So far I've got $50 in a program I haven't been able to use.

Well, I have done some more research on this, still haven't solved my problem but it seems you CAN save an image to a CD-RW drive. It splits it into disk sizes for you. In fact it tells you exactly how many disks you'll need. I have a 30 g HDD and it says I need 3 disks. That's not the problem. I have tried saving it to the HDD (with a warning from the program that it's not a wise thing to save an image to the same partition I'm imaging) but I am still getting the error message that my C drive is being used or has bad sectors.

I have found this forum dedicated to the TI software in case any of you are interested:

I don't think its the cd burner not being supported as I was able to create a recovery boot disk using TI and my burner.

Thanks for the advice, I'm still working on trying to work this through.
