I wasn't exactly sure which area of the forum to put this in, but this seemed the closest
I have a proxy server setup (win98se, with rideway and analogx proxy)
Proxy connected to internet on USB
Lan card on proxy 192.168.0.1 - subnet 255.255.255.0
Client 1 192.168.0.2 same subnet - win98se
Clinet 2 192.168.0.3 same subnet - win2k pro
I'm running AnalogX for HTTP, FTP and SOCKS
I have RideWay going at the same time for POP3/SMTP, SOCKS (every time I disable socks in rideway, it always comes back when i go into settings again), DNS, TELNET, UDP and TCP mapping for winmx.
RideWay documentation says to setup the Lan card on the server PC to enable DNS, I have "rideway" as host, and "itserv.com" as domain. On the client PC's, I have DNS enabled, rideway said anything can go it the host and domain boxes, and the DNS server is the same as proxy server (192.168.0.1)
On the client PC's, when i run ping www.google.com from the command prompt, the IP address is returned [216.239.37.99], but it says host unreachable. This is further than I got when i didn't have any DNS servers setup on the Client PC's.
All the other parts of the proxy are working (web browsing, kazaa, winmx, pop3 email, msn messenger, FTP). Any ideas on how to get ping to work, greatly appreaciated.
