OK - lets start with the basics. I assume you are connecting with ADSL? Why do you have a router AND a hub? Normally the router would have multiple connections and you can connect computers directly to the router. Finally, what services are you trying to run on the internal machine (eg ftp, game server etc etc)?

ok our hub is to directly link every computer to the house, it is a 8 port hub, and our router is linked to our uplink port i think of our hub which connects to the internet. Im trying to use bulletproof server, which is going to be a standard server with crap on like games software music

Are all the PC's on the same Workgroup? Can all the PC's on your LAN access each other? If not, then try putting them all on the same workgroup.

OK then - can other machines on the LAN connect to the ftp server using the internal ip of the ftp server?

yes all the pc are on the same workgroup and there can all access my server through the lan, but my friends can access it from the web

OK - are your friends who are trying to connect to your server behind a firewall? If they are, as well as forwarding port 21 to your server machine, you will also need to specify some passive mode ports in bulletproof and forward these as well. In addition you will need to specify your internet ip in the bulletproof settings.

If you can't figure this out, say so & I'll post some more detailed settings
