ENUFF PC / Limititing computer time!!

I have to ask the obvious first...

Is this your PC?
Who installed the program and why?
Who set the password?

I'm not going to answer this and i dont think anyone else should without a proper expalination of why its set up like that to begin with.

I agree with liljim - if this is your software & you've just messed up & locked yourself out then that's fine. If this is in a public place & the controls are there to ensure everyone gets a fair go on the machine then perhaps you should respect the system owners wishes....

Sorry I gave you guys the wrong idea, its not a a public computer at all. I busted my butt washing dishes over the summer, often working until 1 AM then being scheduled to work the next morning at ten, to afford my PC. When I finally had enough money saved (about $2,500), I bought it and of course was anxious to use it. I probably played on average of 2-3 hours a day, until my parents (I'm 17) put this thing on because they said it was too much. At first the limit was 2 hours a day, anytime from 7-12, which I didn't have a problem with but it kept getting smaller from 1 hr 45 mins, until now, where its at 1 hour. I also do a lot of homework on the computer, so often I'll use the majority of the hour on that and won't have any leisure time on it when I'm done. Listen, I'm not trying to challenge my parents decisions in any way, and I can even respect what they're doing, but the fact of the matter is I paid a large amount of money that I really worked hard to get, and I would like to be able to use my investment.

Hmm - OK, I don't have that program so I can't tell you specifics. If you hit ctrl-alt-del, can you see the process & stop it running? Do you need a password to modify the program settings, or is it enough to be admin on the local machine?

then run the program and hit the scan button then save the log and post it on this forum i will identify what proccess is enuff pc.. and i will investigate if i can destroy it.

A user must log in to ENUFF using his/her name and password. Once this happens, ENUFF PC knows who is using the computer and while it will not limit administrators/parents in any way, it will prevent all other users from making any changes in an effort to bypass ENUFF PC

SOOOOO with that said here is a sweet idea...

choose one of these key loggers to install on the pc

then make sure your parents happen to change the settings.. you could do something as stupid as asking them for an additional 10 minutes... nething to make them log into enuff pc... then you will have there password... at that point you will have a few options

1. you could increase your time

or

2. delete enuff pc all together and lock your pc down ... if you are 17 years old . you worked you a$$ off for the pc and it is all your money as far as im concerned i would not let neone else on it... i would lock the administrator password and i would delete everyone else's accounts... if they dont have any access to your computer they cannot re-add this using a different password... and even if they do you will still have the key logger to once again destroy there work.

or

3. you can put up with your injustice cut your loss's and deal with it ... or talk to your parents and give them legitamite reasons for your time to be increased.


( option 3 would be best case senario) (option 2 would be the way id go if i was in your situation and they said no.. you are 17 years old not a 12 yr old baby they need to protect from the horrors of the internet)

This is such a two-sided coin:

On one hand I am a parent, so I can understand your parents and what they are trying to do.
I too have limits for my children when it comes to online computer time, TV, PS2 and
a host of other items as well. I do not put limits if it pertains to homework, that is a separate issue.

I also see your side of it, wanting control over something that is “yours” that you earned.
That is only natural, you are testing your wings, getting yourself ready to leave the nest.

So to answer your question yes there is more than one way to get around your problem.

But is that really the right thing to do?
You obviously have parents that care about you and the values that you learn, that in it’s self is rare now days.

I would suggest that you sit down and talk with your parents but be prepared in advance.
Write down things that show you are being responsible and trustworthy and use them as
why you feel you have earned an increase of computer time.
Also address the subject that you respect the values that they are trying to instill in you
and that you are trying to work within their guidelines and values for this change.
