Clicking on icons

Help!
I don't know whether I'm having a software problem or hardware problem. I have to click on objects several times in order to engage it. It's driving me crazy. It doesn't matter if it's the internet or just a program. How can I fix this?

Lets first see if its a problem or impatience. Instead of double clicking the icon try right clicking it and select open. If that doesnt seem to open the program any better we'll have you post a hijack log and take a deeper look.
