currupted audio file?

hello all,


This is rather a sophisticated proceedure to actually make this audio file. But i will not get into that rather, i will summarize.


I work at a University and we had a professor who came in to do a speaking exam. the teacher speaks to the whole class through a headphone and the class will respond to the prof. while it's being recorded through a special software. simple enough? ok


Well, after the exam ended, the software on one student's computer frozed and when we try to collect the student's audio file and play it, media player (wmp, itunes, etcc...) just keep saying that they can't play the file or itunes won't even open it at all.

the audio file is around 126mb WAV

Is there a way to test it out? i mean the file definitely have some file size, but it's just not working, plase help

Have you tried windows sound recorder to open the file?
Click Start > Run and type sndrec32.exe press enter.

More than likely the closing statement on the wave file was not written.
You could try opening the wav file in a text editor, to see if you can replace what is missing at the end of the file by comparing it to a known good wav file. The problem is the size of the wav file 126mb is a lot to open in any text editor (notepad will not do it).

You could also try using a wav editing program like
An editing program might read the file in as apposed to just loading the whole file as a player would.

yeah, i tried soundrecorder and audacity, but they won't open it.

Soundrecorder say's that it's corrupted and audacity just have it blank. My thoughts exactly about it not closing properly. but is there any other way?
