unprotecting a word document

Postby Koozie » Mon Mar 22, 2004 3:51 pm

I have a word document I use at work on a very regular basis, for use as a blank form sheet. The problem being, it now needs updating, and the creator is no longer employed at my facility. Is there a way in office XP to bypass the protection so I don't have to start from scratch?
I have the .doc if anyone wants to lend a hand.

You will need a third party password cracking program to do this. Depending on how long the password happened to be it could be a very lengthly process. I would just recommend redoing the document.

Would you be able to highlight/select and then copy to a new document to make the process easier?

that's a negative. With the protection, mouse highlighting and also select all from the menu are disabled. I am looking into 3rd party software now. Hoping for a quick fix though.

Here is one to look at:

You might also take a look at the fix on this link to see if it works:

Thank you ranger bob for being such an asset, and letting me know that my concerns are valid and guarded. I can only hope that all other moderators are as willing to hold secure information as important as you do. Props to Ranger Bob.
