Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, we had family in for Thanksgiving.

I have searched and cannot find a direct download of that version.
There are a number of updates from Microsoft that have newer version but they are all part of an update.

Can you run MS update?

to be honest, i really think i might be best off with a clean install. copy over all the important things, and just do a format and install on the c drive.

any ideas?

(motherboard drivers, hardware drivers, raid drivers ...)

i dont know what raid drivers are, but no, i dont have a box of drivers. what exactly would i nead?

No worries about raid drivers Venney. you haven't got your HDDs set up in a raid.

the vital drivers should be on the CD that came with your mobo. if you can't find that CD, go to your mobo's website and download the latest from there.

Without them, your ethernet ports won't work, no audio, etc.
GPU drivers on the CD that came with the GPU of course. Then update later with the latest from the ATI website.
If your mouse uses any fancy software then you'll need that again.

Literally think of everything you use and if it needs some kind of installation.

I’m back on the 13th buddy, should be good. maybe you can meet jess over xmas. Yea we can go to the pub, we can walk back to yours and see your stuff. seems like a good plan.

as of current i am using real player, as its the only player that works with my remotes next button, but doesn’t work with play/pause (like wmp did).

i know a format seems a bit extreme, but i just dont know whats going on, doesnt look like i will ever have a fully functional ie7 or wmp until i format.

If i can wait until i go home, i may see if i can find the restore discs that were made. gecko, did i mention i can run the restore from the pc? i dont really understand, couldn’t i just do an in place install? can you explain that a bit more (if i find the restore discs? or get hold of an xp dics?)

You will need the raid drivers in order for windows XP to see the sata drive!
You have to use the "F6" option on the install boot up screen.

I don't think you will have the option to do an in-place install/upgrade.
Most likely it's a full format and reinstall with your old motherboard drivers.

You have windows Media edition right?
Then you will need a media edition to do an in-place install/upgrade otherwise your Key won't work.

Finding the restore disks is your best bet, all the drivers will already be loaded to your new motherboard.
