divx playback problems...audio codecs??

Postby laureng925 » Sun Aug 03, 2003 11:18 pm

when i go to play a movie i downloaded thru my divx player it says that the video contains audio data that is "unrecognized" and then says i may need to install a new audio codec on my computer... i.e. right now, it can only play the video. if this is the case, how do i go about installing a new audio codec? i thought divx was supposed to have it all....
thanks!

The DivX Player currently can only playback DivX video files that use constant bitrate (CBR) MP3 audio. If you have a file with variable bitrate (VBR) MP3 audio, or another type of audio encoding (e.g., AAC, Windows Media Audio), you won’t hear the audio.
You can try loading this file in windows media player, if you do not have the codec it will try to download the appropriate codec to play that file.
If this fails you must find out what audio codec was used when that file was encoded and find and install that codec.
