media player problem

i'm not pc savy at all so any help would be nice. i'm trying to listen to a live-streaming radio program, but it just wont play when i click on the link. i'm using windows media player 9, which i installed again, but the pop up radio player doesn't appear when i select the link. i've had a couple of other problems similar to this one recently. i think it might have something to do with my java.

another question, i recently noticed that there's a Java Web Start icon on my desktop which was never there before (probably one of my siblings must have put it there), and everytime a java related operation needs to be performed, it launches itself. i definitely think my original problem is related to this java situation. thanks

Streaming media works by going File --> Open URL and typing in a URL. It should work.

Also, the java thing is fine. It has no bearing on Media Player.
