If you scroll down a bit further in the event viewer, there is a MS link that might (or might not) have info on the item.

I'm guessing that you have disabled MS Messenger or there is a network confict, your nic could be unplugged when you try to go on line.

Scroll back on the event viewer and see where it started--could give you a clue.

Serious problems can occur when editing the registry only perform this step if you are an advanced computer user and do not modify anything exept what is listed.

Disable MSN Instant Messenger (All Windows) Popular (Before Version 5.1)
This restriction is used to disable the ability to run the Microsoft MSN Instant Messenger client.

Open you registry and find the key below.

Create a new DWORD value for each of the optional restrictions inside the key.
Set the value to "1" to enable the restriction or "0" to disable it.

PreventAutoRun - Do not automatically start Messenger
PreventRun - Do not allow Messenger to run on machine

Restart Messenger Client for the changes to take effect.

Registry Settings
User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Messenger\Client]
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Messenger\Client]
Value Name: PreventAutoRun, PreventRun
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (1 = enable restriction, 0 = default)

Not to computer savy?
Another thing to try is updating your windows messenger seeing how new version 5.1 disables the ability to apply the above restrictions.

hope i was helpful,
