In Win 98 there was a scandisk utility.
I wish to know if something similar exists in Win XP or is there any such similar freeware / shareware available.

I am required to scan a Floppy disk 1.44 MB that now has gone bad!!

There are a couple of ways but i like command prompt so here's how to do that.

Click Start > Run

Type cmd then click ok

Type chkdsk a: then press enter

It should check the disk from there, however, i must warn you that theres usually not much chance of repairing floppy disk.
