Mmmmm.Ive gone through some of the advice and Im beginning to suspect that the Window Installer thingy isn't actually installed on my PC,or its corrupt. After downloading
the InstMsiW.exe file from the MicroSoft webite I'm unable to install THAT. It says

Wrong OS or OS version for application.

I'm a little out of my depth here so I have'nt got a clue what I'm doing really. Should I just reinstalled my version of XP or unistall then re-install Service Pack 2? I've read that contains the required components.

I DID IT!!
I uninstalled SP2,reinstalled the Windows Installer thingy then had to install some ISSscripting thingy. Once that was done the game installed!!! I've now reinstalled SP2 as well.

Thanks for all your help. I would'nt have had a clue what to do if you had'nt point me in the right direction!

Thanks again and Happy New Year!!

Hi, I have a similar problem to ColaBoy except I run Win98....

When I run setup.exe on the Pirates! Cd, it gives the response "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime."

Here are the things I have tried (as suggested by Atari Tech Support)

---Cleaned out Temp Directories

---Renamed Installshield directory to Installshield.old, in order to install it from the web

---Cleaned the CD

---Tried to install, same response

---Copied both CDs to my harddrive into folders labelled "Disc1" and "Disc2", and tried to run setup.exe....same response.

Also, when I try the file InstMsiA.exe to reinstall Windows Installer, it just responds "The specified service already exists." So I get no progress going that route.

One other thing of note is that I've tried running ISScript8.Msi off the CD, and that gives me an error as well "Internal Error 2229., BindImage, SELECT 'File_' FROM BindImage WHERE File=?"

Any ideas?

And you're very welcome, ColaBoy.

Thanks for the help so far, I had tried that a few days ago, but I tried again tonight...

Still getting the 1607 message when I run setup.exe, however, I get a different message when I now run ISScript8.Msi which now says "Internal Error 2211., MsiAssembly", and InstMsiA.exe still replies with "The specified service already exists."

Hopefully this is progress, any other ideas?
