Everquest models

Postby josh10581 » Thu Jan 27, 2005 10:33 pm

I am currently studying simulation / modeling / graphics in school. I was interested in finding out what program or engine is used to create the character level models for everquest or other computer games of the sort. I noticed that some of the files in the EQ folders have the extension *.s3d, so i looked up the extension on www.filext.com. It comes up with several possible sources, everquest being one and Strata 3d as another. Strata 3d is listed as a modeling/animation engine, so could I assume that EQ uses Strata? And furthermore Is there any way to access a Strata file in GMax? Any thoughts appreciated.

(1) Never assume anything...ever
(2) It is unlike that SONY would so easily allow modification of their graphics models
(3) I would recommend, rather than trying to steal ideas from a publisher, you make your own models and work up from there.

Good luck. :)

Well, I am not so much wanting to COPY per-sey, but rather to get an idea of how to put together a human model with a skeleton structure. I bought the gmax bible but it doesnt help much with creating stuff, just tweaking and moving really. Does anyone know of a tutorial to help with this?
