yea, this one game Ive been playing for a long time (goes way back in the day when Sierra owned it) called A.R.C...

somehow now whenever I quit the game, my resolution doesnt go back to 1024x780 and ends up going to 600x800. Ive already tried many things.... logging out and logging in. Switching to Adminstrator *although my account is the adminstrators account* and even going to DISPLAY on control panel to change the resolution back.

It gives me an error:

"The display control panel is unable to change the display settings. You may not have appropriate administrative rights to change these settings."

hmmmm...but i DO have admin rights so i dont understand the concept of showing me an error and makin me restart my computer everytime im done playing the game.

hopefully someone knows whats going on :)

Sorry bad weekend. Try running the game in Windows 95 mode and see if that fixes the problem. Old games dont play nice with new OSes.

"...atleast to 1024X768 (780 is an odd setting)." Sorry liljim..... i meant 1024X768.
Oh, and liljim..... on Halo I changed my resolution to 1024X768 on A.R.C the max resolution possible is 800X600 16bit color

For you 2 that have replied..... could SP2 mess up my recently installed games? because today I Just bout Halo for PC and installed it.. ran it .... when i was done my comptuers Desktop was back to 800X600 AHHHHHHH

It reminds me of "SAFE MODE" all over again....accept a lot worse because i get all these "windows help popups" saying like "there is not enough space on screen to show all the programs in your Start menu" BLA BLA BLA.....

yes, for both A.R.C (which worked perfectly before SP2) and Halo which I just installed now 2 weeks after SP2 installed, both those freeze up my settings after playing them and goes to the horrible resolution.

So hopefully SP2 is the problem? and to me ... it has seemed like SP2 is a waste and just a chunk of space on my comptuer. It keeps giving me all these "information bars" relating to ActiveX controls.... or downloads and I hate it :(

~thanks for your help hue..

Even if SP2 is causing the problem, i dont really suggest removing it.I have seen more problems arise from uninstalling it than from just leaving it on.I dont that on my own system and it wasnt right since, causing me to format and reinstall.Have you tried the compatability mode as PCGuy suggested?

Yup I tried many compatability modes....

FIrst by what PCGuy suggested with Win95 and then tried using Win98/ME settings and WinNT settings...

Halo isn't an old game... I was guessing it wouldn't mess up my problems.

ahhhh so liljim uninstalled it? awesome
