ATI TV Wonder VE and GeForce 5200

Postby RickAucoin » Sat Jul 31, 2004 9:23 pm

I picked up an ATI TV Wonder so that I could record video output from my wife's system onto my machine as mpeg or avi. It looked like this would work... but...

She's got a GeForce 5200 that has S-Video out. Okay, I ran that to an RF converter to get it to Coaxial output, and ran the coax from the RF converter to my ATI TV Wonder card.

Set up "Clone Display" on her machine in the GeForce display controls and set primary display analog (her monitor) and secondary display TV.

At this point it ought to be sending video out to the "TV" through the S Video cable running from her system to my RF converter and then on to my TV Wonder through the coax.

Fire up the TV tuner app that came with the ATI card and I see nothing. Made sure the TV tuner was set to channel 3 (the output for the RF converter) and made sure everyone was on NTSC. I get a black screen on the TV tuner app and static on the sound.

Advice? Help?

Which card do you have?
If your Video Card has no S-Video in,can you not run straight RCA cables?
Go with Goldplated and the quality is pretty good.
Should no probs doing it that way.
Maybe some else has something to say...

Can you not simply convert the s-vido output to comp[osite video and plug that directly into the yellow RCA socket on the back of the TV wonder card?

Then simply select composite as your input on the TV program..

Have you checked to make sure that the RF convertor is working.. plug the antenna into a TV set and check you can tune to it there on Channel 3..

Also.. the reason you are getting static is because you are only processing a video signal.. without an audio input..

glad to hear you got it sorted in the end.. and may I congratulate you on your choice of video card :)

the 9800 All In Wonder in here is my second AIW card.. and something like my 7th ATI card so far.. I am a big ATI fan.. purely for the Hardware that is packed on to them.. the 3d performance is a big bonus too :)

After banging my head against this issue all weekend, and solving it with $250 worth of card... I then find this:
