mouse properties error

Postby ansmwke » Sat Aug 06, 2005 11:39 pm

In the control panel, I can access every item except the mouse properties. I get the following error:

An exception occurred while trying to run "shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\WINDOWS\System32\main.cpl",Mouse"

I'm going to assume you're on Windows XP here...you can give this a try

First, put your Windows XP CD into your CD drive

Go to the Start menu, then click on Run, type in msconfig, and hit Enter. Under the General tab click on Expand File

File to expand: main.cpl
From: X:\I386
To: C:\Windows\system32

Change X to whatever letter is assigned your CD drive. If your system was preinstalled, you may find this instead on the hard drive under C:\Windows\I386. If so, change the
"from" line accordingly.

Reboot when you are done.
