foxconn 8800gt 512 MB scores

Postby liljim » Tue Jan 29, 2008 11:24 pm

I finally dove off in the 8 series cards with the Foxconn version of the 8800gt. its factory overclocked to 660/1940 with 512 Megs of memory. Its 256 bit with 112 stream processors.

Test 1 3dMark 06
1280X1024
AMD X2 6000 3.0 GHz
8800GT
4 GB DDR2 800MHz

Test 2 3dMark 06
1280X1024
AMD X2 6000 OC'd 3.3GHz
8800GT
4GB DDR2 OC'd 888MHz

Im pretty impressed. I honestly didnt think it was going to be that much higher than my 7950GT. It averaged around 6500 at 1280X1024, depending on temps and background process's.

well...it was running around 62 with the side off my case and should drop 5 or so degrees with it on. I got it from newegg for $250. Im like you though, the next series up was out of my budget and on performance vs price it wasnt worth going any higher. My current downside is i was just playing the latest F.E.A.R. expansion, 10 minutes in my power supply died. I was running was i remembered to be a 500 watt silent assassin but i just noticed it was 450 watts and 2 years old. Im on the wife's pc now looking for a new one. I can say that as soon as the pc died i reached in and felt the vid card. It wasnt nearly as hot to the touch as my 7950 has been. Im off to newegg, i'll post the new psu when i decide on one.

AMD and Nvidia simply work well together, they always have. I've been running the combination for years without disappointment. The GTS isnt really that much better than the GT, if you buy a overclocked GT you essentially have a GTS for half the cost. The thing with quad core vs dual core, more cores doesnt mean more framerates. It does mean better ability to multitask which also gives better stability. If you look at just CPU scores, your will double mine but it doesnt have a large effect on framerate.

true ive heared dual core processors run better results of 3d mark then quad core unless u get the exteme versions which are too expensive! lol. i might get some more ram though see how things get on then.

Any idea why my ram does what i said jim?? its suppose to be 8500 1066mhz but wont run at 1066 only 1000 and sandra says its a 6400pc when its not.. :S
