Floppy Disc

Postby lawley » Tue Mar 09, 2004 5:31 pm

Ive had my floppy disk drive for 8 years now  without any problems its worked on

Win95
Win98
winMe

the other night i purchased WinXP proffessional and it stopped working :(
it is in the Bios and everything though it boots straight into windows when i leave a floppy disc in when it should bring up the error when you leave a floppy in, also in windows when you try to use a floppy it says please insert floppy disc even though i have a floppy disc in there any thoughts on how to fix this ?

Have you looked in "Device Manager" to see if it has a ? or a !?
If it's listed and doesn't have any problems try removing it and rebooting and Windows will reinstall it.
Let us know.

With WinXp I put CDROM ahead as that's what is usually used to boot to repair/etc. If it doesn't "see" a CD then it boots to the HD. If you needed to repair and it was set to boot from IDE then it wouldn't "see" the CD.
