routher vs switch

All computer hardware support

routher vs switch

Postby caboosejjs » Sat Mar 13, 2004 5:48 pm

I want to expand the capability of a small offince network from 3 computers to eventulally five or six. I also want to add a print server to the workgroup. Currently the 3 computers are interconnected with a Lynkys router. I know lyksys has a 2 port print server with 4 open ports for computers to attach. But would it be more economacal for me to buy a switch and connect it to the router? Would those computers connected to the switch have the same features and capability as thouse connected to the router? And then i would buy a print server separatily. Please any advice would be appreciated

Regards,
John

Add a Switch to the Router to expand the Network. Those machines on the Switch will share the benefits of the Router. You can add a Print Server or share a Network Printer as ogrrii suggests.
