Internal Modem cable problem ?

Postby debsteve1 » Sun Aug 07, 2005 7:33 pm

Hi, I have just installed my old 56k modem into my sisters PC, I couldn't give her the cable (from modem to bt phone socket) as i had lost it. So I tested it after setup using my parents modem cable and it worked fine so I then went out and bought her a new modem cable just a normal standers one for use in UK home it said. PROBLEM is it reports "no dialtone detected", I have tried my parents one again and thats fine so what is the difference in these 2 cables and where can I get another like my parents one?. Im not sure of make of modem only chipset is rockwell and its internal so why the cable problems?

Thanks Steve.

Are you using microfilters? if so, try using another one if you have a spare one handy.
