Netsky hell!!!

Hi!

I am being sent around 5 - 10 emails per day containing the w32.netsky.z@mm virus. I use Outlook express (mail server Yahoo UK).

Now its not a problem as trusty Norton (bless it) catches is every time. Its just incredibley irritating to see 13 new emails and realise its a load of crap!

I dont give out my yahoo address on any websites as all, ever (i have a second account for that), so i really can't work out how they're getting my address??

Rather more alarmingly, it's not being sent to a huge list of ppl with similar addresses - its being sent to my address only every time!

Help me someone...before i go insane!!!

You probably don't have the virus since you say Norton is catching the virus when you receive these emails. I know how you feel because I went through this not long ago and the only thing I found to stop it once my email address got out was to change my email address.

Probably somebody that has your email address has the virus and that is how all this started for you. The bad thing about these emails is that it can appear to be sent by somebody you know so you think they sent the email but in fact they did not send it. If you decide to get a new email address you might ask your friends to scan for this virus in case they have it.

Right well I have run the scanner and I haven't got it. I forgot to mention before that I also recieve lots of emails infected with the w32.sober virus too - but i ran a scanner and I dont have that either!

I suspect ranger bob is right about other people having it. I am seriously cheesed off about my address tho - I odnt want to change it, and if I do, surely as soon as I'm added to the infected persons address book the proccess begins again!

OOH maybe I can see who it is bacause when the emails are recieved the sender must be online, so may be on MSN messenger - that way i can see who it is...anything in that theory?

I love my addy too much to let it go...il just deal i guess. Do you reckon it will ever stop, or am I likely to never lose this? I know its hard to say, and that question is rather silly...i'm just searching for a glimmer of hope in a cave looking darker and darker...

Have you tried Mail Washer? The free version offers POP access but there is an option to purchase for $37.00 for the upgrade that will let you use with IMAP, Hotmail, MSN and AOL access. Heres where I got the info check it out:
