Incompatable DVD Writer

Postby Torquay-Pete » Mon Jun 07, 2004 8:56 pm

Hi guys
Heres a question for you, I was running an Optowrite DVD Rom/CD Writer Combo along side a Pioneer 104A DVD writer without any Problems,(I installed the Pioneer Myself so have some idea of how to set things up). The trouble started when I upgraded the Pioneer to a BCT 8x DVD writer. Windows recognised this and said that it was working properly. However when I tried to burn DVD`s this would not have it!!
I had this installed as the slave unit, I tried a test burn with Nero and had an error something like " Can`t communicate with Drive". I swaped this to Master and this was OK But The optowrite wasn`t recognised then.
So now I am just running the DVD Writer on it`s own , Any Ideas
Thanks for taking time to read this ,I Would like to use BOTH units!!
Cheers Pete

So basically you're saying that whichever drive you run as master is fine, but you can never use the slave, is this correct? When you changed the drives from master/slave, did you keep them on the same connector on the IDE cable?

When the optiwrite is the slave, is it not recognised in the BIOS, windows and Nero?
