What file does it say...look for the dll file name and post back.

IE is the only thing i have problems with (stuff like netscape works fine)

Ok...in the mean time you could try and disable script debugging in Internet Explorer.

Start Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the Advanced tab, click to select the Disable Script Debugging check box in the Browsing section.
Click OK, and then restart Windows.

This by no means tells us what's causing it but it should stop the error messege from popping up for now.

With debugging off...
locate the file msvcrt.dll , should be in either the system or system32 folder.Just to make sure where it resides.Now rename it msvcrt.dll.old
This way you won't overwrite it,just in case this doesn't solve the problem

Now download a fresh file and save it to your desktop,unzip it into the folder the original file was in.Should be just the dll file in the zip.

Go back and Enable script debugging:

Start Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the Advanced tab, click or uncheck to select the Enable Script Debugging check box in the Browsing section.
Click OK, and then restart Windows.

See if that has fixed it.

Has IE6 always done this on this system? Did you have IE 4, 5 or 5.5 installed and then upgraded to IE6 and then started having problems?

If you have always had problems you might be one of the unlucky ones that IE6 does not work well on your Windows 98 system. Some people have this problem and end up having to revert back to either IE5 or 5.5.

@ ranger bob, IE 6, and all other versions have worked fine on my computer until now, never had any problems. if nothing else works ill go back to IE 5
