Please help me get rid of this virus

Postby Immel » Sat Jun 12, 2004 6:12 pm

I don't know the exact name of it, all I noticed was 'Bloodhound'. I downloaded the trial of Norton Anitvirus 2004. I ran a scan and it found 2 viruses. But there was rather a complicated process to getting rid of them- I was supposed to click on each on and it took me to a page that had a lot of info about it. I was hoping that it would just delete them. Anyway, I am unable to get rid of this virus. A couple times a day it suddenly alerts me of the virus and gives me about a 60 second warning till shut down. Very annoying and I only hope I can finish typing this post before it does it again. So please help if you can. Thanks.

Download / Install / Update / and Run .
And:
.
Then:
Download and install: . Now Run it and post a copy of the Log File here.
(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Sounds to me like you are infected with either the Sasser Worm or MsBlaster Worm. Please read the information in the links below.

Sasser http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/sasser.mspx

MsBlaster http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.mspx
