My windows is current, no critical updates, I ran adaware and spybot.

I keep getting popups from xadso.offeroptimizer.com or similar addresses, and every time I run spybot it finds "DSO Exploit"

Ok, I ran CWShredder, then deleted all my internet temp files, emptyed recycle bin, and ran Adaware and Spybot again. Spybot found DSO exploit again.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

cedaxgw.exe
sburcdgj.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.

I followed all your instructions. I then ran Spybot again, it found "DSO exploit" and "VX2/f".

It seems that everytime I get the offeroptimizer popups, spybot finds VX2/f, and it stays away for a while, but it always comes back after a little while.

Do you have SpyBot "Fix" the VX2/f when it finds it/them?
Do you use the Google Pop-up Blocker?
Your Log File is clean.

Why do you want to delete IE?
If you want more security, download Mozilla / Opera / Etc.
