Looking for Suggestions...

Postby Cactus » Sun Jun 27, 2004 7:14 pm

Ok this is what I have:

LiteOn SOHW812 8X4X8X4 DVDRW
LiteOn LTR-52246S CDRW
HL-DT-ST DVD-Rom GDR-8162B
HL-DT-ST CD-Rom GCR-8523B

Now I have another pc that 2 of these devices will be installed on.

How would you set them up?

I thought I would install the DVD-Rom and the DVDRW on my comp, and the CD-Rom and the CDRW on the other comp.

Just looking for input on how someone else would set it up...... :)

I would set the LiteOn SOHW812 8X4X8X4 DVDRW along with the HL-DT-ST CD-Rom GCR-8523B in 1 machine then of course put the other 2 in the other machine. My thoughts were why have 2 DVD-Roms or RW's in same machine?

You following me Cactus

I would suggest the same as Geekgirl and put the LiteOn SOHW812 8X4X8X4 DVDRW and the HL-DT-ST CD-Rom GCR-8523B in one computer and the other two in the other comp. My thought on this is at least on one comp you would have DVD read capability and the other you could have DVD read and write capabilities. Then you would be able to burn CD-R/RW on both.

OK...the DVDRW is detected and configed...shows up as drive E:
Now the 52x Cd-Rom shows up in Device Manager but not in Windows Explorer nor MyComputer.
I've uninstalled it from the Device manager and rebooted but it just loads right back to this.
What do think....do I need to pull the case off?

was that with your 7 in 1 removed? otherwise you can try that first in order to see those 2 drives are installed well.

one more thing, you can look in device manager under vieuw (or image) and check the show hidden devices and delete the usb-ones you are not using
