somthings running in the background of my pc

i have a reoccuring problem of what i think is somthing running in the background of my pc it slows down the pc from time to time , i have been checking what is operating by the ctrl alt & del method but i dont understand what they are and if i need them to be running! so can anyone explain what the following are and do they need to be running!
