I need Help, can get rid of dialer

Postby TomDevon » Fri Jul 09, 2004 12:11 pm

My problem is the same as The one from dk:

Can't get rid of adware / dialer ...please help!
Posted: Wed Jun 30, 2004 10:24 pm

But on an XP system.

I have an evil dialer  , which I cannot remove with 'adware', and which keep disconnecting me, and generally pissing me off. The dialer changes name, but always changes my homepage to www.pureseeker.com, and adds a XXXServer to my dial up list.

Am abit of a novice so any help would be deeply appreciated.

TomDevon. :(

I have performed Hijackthis and log is below:

After you've finished fixing this problem I strongly recommend that you visit the and download the Critical Updates.

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
(This would also include the “GoBack” Program if it is installed.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.pureseeker.com/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

XXXServer - Search for and delete.

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.

If your browser is being changed I would recommend downloading and installing SpywareGuard also.
