Do as Geekgirl suggests and also this:

Please download: .
Unzip it to your desktop but don't run it yet.
Close all Windows.
Do not open internet explorer to come back here until after running the tool.

Double click Aboutbuster.exe, click OK, click Start, then click OK. This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them.

Once the tool is done scanning, copy the log and paste it into your thread.
with a new Hijack this log.

I should tell you all, initially, the problem with this computer is when it tries to establish internet connection via dialup it locks up whenever it gets to connecting to network. With that said, I found several dialup registry entries whenever i ran spybot and deleted them. Today, I gave it a wurl and tried to connect and was succesful through compuserves setup and connection wizard. I can still connect through that compuserve wizard. However, when i manually configured users name and password through IE internet connection and tried to establish connection, it would connect then drop me after it verified user name and password. A;so, whenever opened IE offline it would send me to www.incredifind.com whenever my homepage was set to google. After all this curiousity made me run spybot and adaware again and I didnt find anything. I then executed the new Hijack and here we are:

Geekgirl, went to Winupdate and there was 21 critical files needed updated. The IE update alone was going to take over and hour. I'm planning on telling the user when I return to do that immediately

Did you run "AboutBuster"? Where's the Log?
I can fix this without that but you could easily save a few steps.

After you've finished fixing this problem I strongly recommend that you visit the

and download the Critical Updates.

First, turn off System Restore.
Then you need to remove "Twain-Tec" in Add/Remove Programs. Twiantec.dll is a transponder.

HijackThis will detect it as a BHO but it must not be removed using HijackThis. This is because of the

remaining registry entries and files which can be dangerous. Instead the following method of removal

is preferable and complete:
Reboot the computer to Safe Mode, search for these files and delete if they are present:

mxtarget.dll / mxtarget.ini / twaintech.dll / and twaintec.ini If twaintech.dll or mxtarget.dll are in

use, then you would need to rename them, reboot the computer, and then delete them.

Run HJT again and do the following:

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not

be there)

TD.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
(This would also include the “GoBack” Program if it is installed.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Try this:
To permanently disable the software click "Start" and then "Run" and type the following command which unregisters the software: regsvr32 c:\windows\twaintec.dll

Reboot a try to delete.
If that doesn't work:

Start / Run / Type regedit
Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ CLSID \ {000020DD-C72E-4113-AF77-DD56626C6C42}, if it exists.
Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects \ {000020DD-C72E-4113-AF77-DD56626C6C42}, if it exists.
Exit the registry editor.
Restart your computer.
Start Windows Explorer and delete:
C:\Windows\Twaintec.dll
Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
In Internet Explorer, click Tools -> Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab -> Reset Web Settings

The run command regsvr32 c:\windows\twaintec.dll did unregister the twaintec.dll. I ran hijackthis1.98 and deleted the registry entiries accordingly. Now, when i booted up i got two error message stating that c:/windows/system/ctrlpan.dll could not be found and the other saying c:\program files\newdot\newdot~2.dll was not there. I searched the later and found it was a virus and was the issue with not being able to set a homepage. The newedot issue is a program that most have gotten unintalled at some poitn but still exists in config.sys startup. So im thinking everythings moving along. I go to establish internet connection, dial out and here the dial tone which i didnt before, and naturally i run into another issue. It tells me that my tcp/ip is not set properly and needs to be reinstalled. So i went to cont/panel/network and installed tcp/ip. Then rebooted and it lost its setting. I did this several times and windows will not save the tcp/ip setting. I ran msconfig again and now im getting a error message stating that "environment variables were found in legacy files autoexec.bat and or config.sys and the variables were removed to windows registry". Also whenever i go to run it automatically saves regedit, usually it will be the last entry you put in there (msconfig.sys) but it doesnt. Does any of this make sense to you? Do i need to reinstall system files?

Please follow-up with fresh HJT Log Files. The only way we can help is seeing what you have before you fix it.
