Running Processes

Postby gooner1 » Sat Jul 24, 2004 11:40 am

Hi. I have just had a look at how many things i have running in the background on my PC. Its 28. Is this normal. I am not too up on things under the hood. So to speak. But all these things running does make me wonder. Can anyone out there explain what they aree and if i need them running. Thanks.

Mark.

I'm not sure what is normal...i guess it depends on what you use ya comp for.... i usually average about 10

It's hard to say whether they are relevant or maybe dodgy things running without knowing what they are... i have a link wich explains lots of runnin processes..

Good luck !!

That's a good link to check running processes, also you can dheck here:
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php? ... ffset=4500

If the process isn't listed do a search at http://www.google.com

If your still unsure....

Download Hijackthis---Important---Create a permanent folder
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
Download from here
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
or here
http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important.
