Hi,

Please help me on this product

I'm running on xp and i know that the software drivers are outdated and i need to go and install the new drivers. But my question is that,

here is my scenerio.

I just bought it.

Should i install all the drivers from the ati website first(theres like three). Then put in the pci card after. Or should I put the card in first then install the driver?

You would first install the PCI card, and then the drivers. Then you can update the drivers after that.

I have an ATI All-in-Wonder video card, so I can give you some helpful hints.

First install the DAO / MDAC you only need this if you do not have MS office installed.
Before you install the drivers and the Multimedia Center make sure that you have
and installed
prior to attempting to install the drivers and the Multimedia Center.
Otherwise it will not work!

first download the drivers, then go to device manager and remove the video card installed. shutdown

Remove the old card, then install the new one. reboot. when it asks for drivers point to the directory that you unzipped the file to and your done.

if you didn't do it this way, you may only be able to boot into safe mode, delete the video drivers and reboot.

To moderator Gecko:

so you also have the ATI tv VE too right. Well, I haven't install it yet and havne't even open the pakage. Does it look good on your compter. I only have 256mb of ram and i was wondering if it will look good on this much. I don't want to open it yet becuase i once bought a USB one and its really bad. even thought i used that on a 512mb ram.

Can you give me a step by step on how to install this card. It was kinda confusing. Like

1. Download the DAO / MDAC and install it.
2. and so on.

thanks.

ps. IceCube, sorry, but i have no idea what your talking about.

cheers.

No sweat, my wife said the same thing to me yesterday.

I guess I go mix some gin and ice3's together and see if I can figure this out.

Good luck on your repair

1. Go to ATI’s web site and surf for your OS (win98 winXP) drivers and download them all, DAO / MDAC, ATI TV-WONDER Drivers and Multimedia Center. I would put all of these files in a new folder label it ati-drivers, unzip as needed.

2. Follow the links in my post above and download Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0 and Windows Media Encoder 9.0.

3. Install the DAO / MDAC reboot as needed

4. Install Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0 and Windows Media Encoder 9.0, rebooting as needed.

5. Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware/Device Manager > click on the + next to Display Adapters > right click on your current video card and select uninstall.

6. Shut down your system and disconnect the power cord. Open up your case and remove your old video card and install the new ATI card. Make sure that you first touch your case where there is no paint (for grounding purposes) before touching the motherboard or any daughterboards.

7. Put your system back together, plug in the power cord and start you system. You should get a “Windows has found new hardware” message at boot up. Choose “Have Disk” option and select the “ati-drivers” folder that you made, use the “Drivers” windows should take it from there.

8. Now install the Multimedia Center from the “ati-drivers” folder, reboot and you should be good to go.
