M/S Outlook Express Problem

Postby sumo » Tue Aug 19, 2003 10:56 pm

HELP!!

I have Windows XP and I use OUTLOOK EXPRESS with a 56 k dial up modem. The problem that I have is when I start the program up I get a Error message to say that I was unable to retrieve the messages.

To get over this I start internet explorer and connect. (I am unable to connect through O/E) then I go back to O/E and I am then able to download my messages.

What do I do to make sure that it does not try to download messages before I connect?

Your help would be most useful.
Thanks

Sumo

There are a couple of ways to accomplish what you want.
1. Setup Outlook Express to connect upon launch. To do this launch O/E then click on
tools select options, select the Connection tab, now you can select to use the same connection a Internet Explorer.
2. Set Outlook Express to not send and receive messages when launched. To do this launch O/E then click on tools select options, on the General tab, uncheck the send and receive messages at Startup box.
