disable internet

Postby mikeUK » Fri Aug 06, 2004 2:06 pm

hi,

i have a small business server and i want to know how, without firewall software i can disable it from being accessed by the internet and accessing the internet, just being accessed by my local network

it cannot simply be unplugged because it goes into a four port router which has a direct internet connection

thanks, please reply asap

well.. an unusual request.. but I guess.. just off the top of my head...

if you go into internet explorer... then click tools->options.. and under connection->lan settings.. enter a non existent proxy address.. i.e. 100.100.100.100 port 9999... this would prevent any internet access because it wouldn't know to look at the router for it's internet access..

as for preventing the net from accessing the server.. as long as you don't have any ports forwarded to the Server pc.. there is no way it could be accessed anyway :)
