Creative Sound blaster 16 pci Drives

Postby rhouzer » Thu Aug 19, 2004 5:42 pm

Does anyone know where I can get Creative Sound blaster 16 pci drivers? Creative's website does not have any and there support says they dont support that card (even though the box says over 100 million sold). I have windows xp pro and the card supports hardwarebuffering and EAX but i can find no drivers for it.

Look on the card, it should say something like : model CT4760.
If you bring that number in on their search engine, you'll find the drivers

The WDM drivers are ChipSet specific...

Right–click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager. The Device Manager opens...

Highlight the OLD device you wish to remove and Click remove.
Then try rebooting see which drivers get installed.

Ok..make sure the new drivers are in a folder somewhere on your Hardrive and you know where they are.
If the drivers came in a ZIP folder make sure you open it in that folder first.
After you re-boot and Windows detects the Device and it wants to install the drivers, click cancel, then click browse and point to folder with drivers.
If you can't do that...just

1. Right-click My Computer, Properties.

2. Next, go to the device manager tab and select the hardware item you would like to update (Win 2000 users, head to the Hardware tab and hit the Device Manager button). You'll probably need to click the plus sign next to each category in order to actually get to a specific piece of hardware.

3. Right-click the item you want to update and select Properties from the resulting menu.

4. First click remove then Click the Update driver button on that tab. A wizard will start and help you install your new driver. Click the Next button.

5. Click the "Search for a better driver..." radio button. Click Next.

6. Finally, tell the computer where the new driver file is using the "Specify a Location" drop box and the Browse button. If you're using Win ME, it will automatically start looking for the new driver at this point. If it doesn't find it, you'll have to tell it where to look.

Once the driver is located, you'll be able to finish up with the wizard. You'll probably need to re-start your computer.

Don't know if that will work but you can try...
Maybe someone else has some ideas...

It sounds like you have two active sound cards. Go into the bios and disable the sound on the mother board or remove the SB card. Windows XP should be able to install the drivers for those old cards without asking for a driver disk.
