If he hasn't gotten rid of the root of the problem I suggest to
Download and install: .
Run it and post a copy of the Log File in the HiJackThis Support Forum.

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Always describe your problem. Your description can go a long way to solving/repairing your particular issue.

I'm sorry I can't help him with his fight and the phone company but our moderators can remove the dirty culprit.

have already done that... brad helped alot but still having a problem removing one line in the log:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost

no matter what I do I can't get rid of it. I've gone in maunally to the registry and it comes back. Something is still lingering around that's causing it to reappear. ARGH!!!

Brad told me to nock off tht proxy override but after a look through my internet settings i found out that i needed it and the broadband supplier was automatically putting it back on. If not tht sorry.(everythings worth a try). What server are you with?

Re-post using the newer version of HJT...
Delete the oldexe and replace with Version 1.98.2
You can use the link Geekgirl provided or the HJT link from my sig below this post.
Run HJT again and post back with a new logfile.
