Please Help me undo a Norton Internet Security Rule!

Postby meetal » Mon Aug 23, 2004 11:37 pm

Please help!! Whilst surfing the net, I received an alert from Norton Internet Security which asked me whether I wanted to permit Internet Explorer.exe from accessing the Internet. I accidentally blaoked it and ticked the always use this action box. Now everytime I try to access the Internet using Internet explorer I get a 'Page Cannot be found.' The only way I can access the Internet is by disabling Norton Internet Explorer, but I fear that I am downloading viruses etc. I was wondering if there was any possible that I can undo this rule that I had set without reinstalling Norton, because I'm not sure how I can do that either. Any help will be very much appreciated. This is the log from Norton of what I did:
Details: The user has created a rule to "block" communications
Outbound TCP connection
Remote address,service is (67.18.37.4,54)
Process name is "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
Please please help!! Thank you for your time.

Is this Parental Blocking of NIS?
I don't use NIS so I'm not to familliar with it.
If it is...

Open Norton Internet Security.
On the main window, double-click Parental Control.
In the Parental Control window, in the Parental Control settings for drop-down list, select the account that you want to change.

Click Sites.
"Specify blocked sites" should already be selected and a list of Web site categories with some or all categories checked

If you want to unblock all sites for a specific category, uncheck the box for that category.
If you want to unblock only a site in a category, click Exceptions.

In the Exceptions window, click Add.

In the Add Web site to the Exception List window, type the URL of the Web site that want to add.
Click OK.
Repeat the previous three steps for each Web site that you want to added to your exceptions list.
When you are done adding sites, click OK.

Let us know if that worked.
