Fanning a Fan!

Postby goodtaste » Thu Aug 26, 2004 12:56 am

Hello! I have a question. I have am HP Pavilion XG833. My fan is working but the machine is beginning to heat up. I had to turn it around (the back is now facing me) and I have to every now and then fan the fan! It overheated compeltely one day and it wouldn't respond to anything. When it cooled off thoroughly, it came back the next day. (The poor old trooper!)
What it needs is a good dusting off and I cannot open the case!
Can anyone tell me how to open this model? The old computer I had (circa Win 95) was very easy to open. You got the screws out and lifted it rought out. I unscrewed this one but it hugs the machine all around and I cannot lift it nor slide it off. How is it done?
This might sound dumb, but I'm here to learn.
Thank you very much!

Some comps you pull the Front face off by pulling from the bottom.
Then once you pull the front off there will be a screw holding in each panel.
Not sure if thats how an HP opens but you can try.
If there are no screws on the back then this is probly how its done.
Pull from the bottom being carefull to not break the face plate.

looks like your case comes apart with 2 side pannels and a top pannel instead of one whole piece.
