Java Enabled....

Postby Cactus » Tue Sep 02, 2003 5:21 pm

Hi...I'm having a problem with my Java software.
I goto a ICQ site and use the Web based ICQ.
The Java applet for my contact list won't load.
Also when I try and log onto my Tripod File Manager account it won't load either.
Under tools,Internet Options,Advanced I have :

Java(Sun)
Java 2v1.4.1_05 for<applet>

Microsoft VM
Java Console Enabled
Java logging enabled
JIT Compiler fo Microsoft VM enabled

Why won't the Java applets run?
I can't get Java Chat windows to open as well....

Can I get rid of the JAVA(Sun) files?
And just keep the Microsoft VM files?
Where can I update VM?

I'm not running windows at the moment, so i can't view my own configuration, but I doubt you should have both JVM's enabled - try disabling one of them and seeing if that solves the problem.

I'm not sure that you can update it - it was included with SP1, but then it wasn't then it was (basically I can't remember whether it's SP1 or SP1a that includes the MS JVM). You could try re-installing suns version (get it at java.sun.com) to make sure that is installed correctly :)

microsoft no longer supports virtual machine. i would suggest uninstalling BOTH editions of java that you have and installing the latest one found at www.java.com

Well I've un-installed all the Sun Java files and only have the Microsoft VM but no java apps still!!
I re-installed msjavx86.exe but it still doesn't work.

Could it be an MS update I installed??
This is ridiculous...how can it work and all of a sudden not??

I need some help on this or I'm going to have to Reformat!!
Not into that as it's going to be a big job!

Can someone walk me through the SECURITY SETTINGS as well as the Java setup and the ADVANCE SETTINGS in Internet Options?

Any help would be appreciated.
