Copy/Paste

Postby alpineent » Fri Sep 12, 2003 5:15 am

I need to send a weekly totals chart to a supervisor. I tried highlighting the entire document, and then copy and paste into an email. However when the email is read it is blank. I also saved the document, and sent again as an attachment and got the same blank white page. Any ideas?

What is the program you are using for the chart? What is the file extension? (.xml) brad

Is the document protected that you are trying to copy? If so that might be preventing you from doing the copy and paste as a security measure.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. I love simple fixes, so I will try fonts and colors also. I know the program that the spread sheet is on is a microsoft program, but the name slips my mind at this time. I did notice the file ended with ".xls" when I tried to open it in outlook express...........

The .xls is an Excel file. To Copy and Paste into an email, make sure you highlite all the cells in the active chart. Otherwise you'll only copy one cell. Next, make sure you are sending mail in HTML format. The recipient will also have to able to read HTML. These are both mail settings in Outlook and Outlook Express.
When sending as an attachment, the recipient will have to open with Excel or it's free "reader". brad

backup act 4.0

Postby alpineent » Sun Sep 28, 2003 1:04 am

Guys, You solved a problem I was having a couple of week ago, so I thought I would run this one by you.
I need to backup all the info listed on a ACT 4.0 program. I started up the backup process, and when it asked me to highlight the files I wanted to back up I could not find ACT anywhere on the system? I looked through Program Files etc........... is there a easy way to locate this? Maybe Explorer. Thanks!

Do you have a shortcut for ACT? If you do, right click on the shortcut & go to properties. The 'target' box will have the path to your proigram. Otherwise, click the 'search' button in windows explorer & tell it to search for ACT :)

In addition, if you're at work, you may want that search to include searching your network. I know at our office, we keep act on the main computer only. brad
