and .. don't see any message for jumping into bios/cmos setup...
tried the Del key on post.. no go
know that sometimes various manufacturers.. use Esc, or F1 or F2..
not completely familiar with tyan... any buddy own one.. and can tell me it would be great to know...
why do i need to get into the bios
to turn off the power management facilities..
when pc was directly connected to the rogers cable high speed modem and left alone for 2 hours.. fired it right back up .. all was fine...
as soon as i hooked it up to the u.s.robotics usr8054 wireless router..via an rj 45 cable.. it chokes after sitting unused for 2 hours. can use word, or excel, just cant get to the net.. to surf or to get outlook mail, but if i reboot.. all is fine
...probably has something to do with a) corrupt Wake On Lan logic of the nic, .. as controlled thru the bios.. or the power management facilitiy.. doesnt wake up out of snooze.. etc.. so i was gonna shut that off..
i have 3 paths to pursue...
went to tyan site.. looked at the pdf file for the tyan tiger.. but
ftp://tyan.com/manuals/ proved the manual proved to be of no help... as it didnt tell me what the acesss key was...del, f1, f2 or esc..
or
go into the router settings and make sure the mtu is set to the proper value (1492 or 1500??) but the second system which is wireless.. works just fine.. no time outs..
no freeze ups on net based apps..
or
fiddle with the APM utilties in control panel
...did it .. turned it off... and it still goes to sleep after a couple hours.. screen, mouse, keyboard, cpu awake.. but.. internet does not..
or..
searched here.. in your database..found nothing Tyan Bios related
so im hoping somebody here owns one... or has had a similar experience.. and can advise me best path..
thanx
