Cd-Rom Issues :(

Postby Un4g1v3n » Wed Sep 17, 2003 3:58 pm

My cd-rom drive isnt working. yesterday i was installing Diablo2 and my pc froze. After i restarted it, my cd rom drive was detected, but it cant read disk. it says "Please insert Media..." or something like that. Do I need to replace my cd rom drive? or is it a problem with something else? Please help me!

I would suggest going into Windows Safe Mode and removing the CD Rom from your devices in Device Manger. Once you have done exit Safe Mode and boot the PC into regular PC Windows mode and let it detect the CD Rom and reinstall itself. Hopefully this will correct the problem.

Hey Ranger Bob... I did the process of Safe Mode and everything but it ended with no solutions to my problem. Im thinking I should switch CD-Rom drives with my other computer. (Take out broken one, replace it with my other one) Any steps i should take one doing that? Or can you give me some more tips that might work without switching drives.

Thanks, ill do that. I switched cd-rom drives though, so it works, for now. Eventually I will get another CD-Rom drive and replace it. Instead of running a 32x (my one thats not working) I now have a 16x :( but, I can still play Diablo2:LOD and StarCraft, so im still happy!
