Winamp is good but since i got my new comp i've lazily stuck with windows media player which i've found perfectly okies til now.

You usually change the preferences somewhere in the tools menu...it all depends which player you choose.... :)

Yup...you can do that!
Just goto Windows Explorer
TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS>FILE TYPES TAB

Scroll down until you find the EXTENTION of the Media you want to open
Then HIGHLIGHT it...
About 3/4 the way down in that window Click the CHANGE button.
Another box will open.
Click the Program you want the MEDIA to open with
Click OK
Click APPLY
Click OK
Close the window
That will do it.
Change them all at same time but Click APPLY each time.

ive found that differnt sites use differnt players, for example some web sites have the option to view in
windows media player or quicktime, so i suppsoe it some times depends on the sites.

You need to know what media player is d/l on your pc. Normally Windows Media Player is installed with Windows, no matter what version you have. This player is your default for playing media files on your computer.
Now if you go to a website, and they sometimes ask where you want to play the file, theres different places they may ask you to go. Or you will need to d/l their player.
If you have another media player installed on your pc like Winamp or RealPlayer you will then be asked to use it or you may have already assigned it to defualt, Or it may install as default.
Any media player downloaded to your machine should have an option to select the files you wish to play.
Open the program and in the properties there is an option to chose default and the type of files you chose to use.
