Do not want the option "save target as"

Postby Geekgirl » Sun Oct 24, 2004 3:41 pm

Does anyone know how to disable the mouse right click
"save target as ..." to download a file?

eg.
Say I have an acrobat file on my website that I would like to
make available for viewing (from the web) but do not want
to permit it to be downloaded. How can this be done?
There has to be some attribute to enable that feature cuz
I've encountered it myself from time to time.

Thanks in advance :)

Here is a script that disables right click. Just add it into your HTML..

Hope it helps...

Also if you go to my webpage you can see how it works. I just added the script to my main page. Link is below.

Just so you know this type of script is annoying.
It doesn't really protect your site because with Right-Click Disabled all anybody has to do is Click VIEW>SOURCE.

Also you can only disable right-click on browsers that have JavaScript enabled; a visitor only has to turn off JavaScript in their browser's options to be able to ignore the script altogether!

Might stop some...but obviously not everyone!!

Thx Limp, it works great.
And Cactus, I agree with you, all they have to do is disable Content Advisor.

Thanks for the replies
