All computer hardware support

networking

Right now I have a Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router with a Linksys Etherfast Cable Modem connected by ethernet cable to my pc. I have Comcast High Speed Internet. I have another computer connected wirelessly with a Linksys Wireless-B USB Network Adapter. I have a third computer connected wirelessly to the router with a Linksys Wireless-G USB network adapter.

When I first set everything up I kept losing my connection every once in a while. Usually I would just reset the router or it would be back up by the time I went to use it. Then, I don't even know what I did, but it started working perfect. It was always up and was working at top connection speed. Now for some reason I keep losing my connection along with the two other pc's. Usually it will go right back up. I know I lose the connection because I leave AIM up all the time and it says I lost my connection. Sometimes, just the pc with the wireless-G usb adapter will lose its connection. I think this may be do to other networks in my neighborhood interfering, but I'm not sure.

I know its something with the router because if I unhook the router and just have the modem attached to my pc it works perfect. I have tried many different network setupsand adjustments, but I'm out of ideas.

I have also been in connect with comcast and linksys. They basically told me if was a defective router, but right after that it started working fine.

Any suggestions

I think you may have two problems. I have never mixed b and g wireless so that could be one small problem.

The other, is what Operating Systems are on the three computers? The problem arises when you turn them all on, or one at a time. They hold an "election" to see who is the "server." The order of boot should be XP or 2000 first, then there should be no problem with an "election."

Also, go into your Router Setup and make sure that the "Timeout" or "Inactivety" is set to zero.
I had a Belkin Router that did the same thing on a daily basis... had to reboot it to connect. Replaced it with a D-Link and all's well.

Do you broadcast your SSID? If you don't and you have other wireless netowrks around you, there can be problems with windows suddenly dropping the connection to your SSID & trying the other SSIDs. Try broadcasting your SSID & see if that helps....
